Will It Ever End !!

It seems an age since I last went fishing, rain and gales all the time with the odd frosty day in between  but nothing to drop the water levels, so I have been on my mtb bike and long walks over the Christmas break.

The family wanted to get out and have some fresh air so we had a walk along the old canal heading towards Welshpool from Newtown, for the first few miles it’s a nice wooded path now until you reach the water treatment works just out side of Newtown where it’s a very dilapidated and very sorry looking sort of a big ditch, any how just after the treatment works there’s a nature reserve so we thought we would have a wonder around there, which would work well for me as the path goes past Penarth weir  which I haven’t been to in years, you could hear the roar of the water well before you reached the weir, I was quite shocked at how much water was coming over the weir, it really put it home, No Fishing For Sometime, so thoughts of the grayling will have to wait and the new keep fit regime will be to the fore front if this weather keeps going I should be as fit as a flea for the new season.
