At Last

Well it’s been a long time coming but the sun is out , it’s warm and there was very little wind, just like a summer that I used to remember a long time a go !!

Roger came over for a casting lesson now he’s retired he has more spare time and wants to get his fly fishing up to speed, we started off with a chat about what he wanted to learn and what he wanted from his fly fishing, then we moved onto the roll cast, Roger for a short while was find the forward STOP in the cast a little hard to do, but in around 10 minutes it was going well, Roger was performing the roll cast off his right shoulder and it was all coming together, so we moved onto the left shoulder, this time Roger as a lot of people do he found it easier off the left shoulder than the right, then I showed Roger the roll cast into the wind and with the wind behind him,

Then it was onto overhead cast, this fell into place really quickly just some fine tuning, not using such as big casting ark and not so much effort his overhead cast was looking good, time was up and it was time for Roger to head for home and do the most important thing to become a good fly caster/fisherman, Practise.

While we were stood in the river Roger noticed what he thought was an eel but it was a fresh water lamprey, summer must be on the way.
