What a week !!

Been a bit of a crazy week, the weather yet again was very mixed so I was spending every evening looking at river heights and the Met Office web site ( must admit it was getting on my nerves a little ) all in all I took out 13 people, Monday was a non river day so we went up the Elan valley, it was quite nice and sunny, but a very strong wind was blowing, but for two complete novices they coped very well with browns coming to nymphs and dries, the next three days saw the river dropping, I had three novice fly fisherman each day so we worked our way down the river as the level dropped most of the fish mainly coming to nymphs with a very rare rise being seen, but nothing to get excited about, Friday  the river looked spot on which I was really pleased about, the river fished quite well with trout and grayling being caught, but no rises at all, then onto a very mixed Saturday, very windy, rain and at times it felt like hail mixed into the rain, the water height was spot on, but the fishing was very difficult a few small fish and one nice grayling again on the nymph, Warren from LA who I was guiding really wanted to catch on a dry, so what the hell let’s have a go, it wasn’t looking good after around ten minutes nothing, then all of a sudden a very big grayling came up for a look and turned a way, the fly went over him again up he came, nothing and again the same, then the fish said enoughs enough and wouldn’t come up to anything we tried and we tried quite a few different flies to say the least !!
